2004 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition
November 7-11, 2004
Baltimore, Maryland

GEA Filtration is a world leader in cross-flow membrane filtration with reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration as core technologies.

Research and development expenditures for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are expected to reach approx. $34 billion annually. 80% of the worldwide R&D expenses are spent in the US. So where does the biotechnology and pharmaceutical scientists go to meet their colleagues, examine cutting-edge research, and to find the latest developments in pilot and process equipment?

This year at The 2004 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition our booth will feature the following GEA Companies and Business Groups:

GEA Filtration

Separate Pure Value - Put your cell harvesting and purification process in the lead with membrane filtration, the leading technology from GEA Filtration. You get: higher yield, significantly higher purity, high product and process flexibility, and improved down stream processing. The modular membrane filtration systems from GEA Filtration enable you to harvest antibiotics, API's, and enzymes from a wide range of fermentation broths based on yeast, bacteria, or mammalian cells - as gently as required. Add to this CIP and SIP capabilities, cGMP compliance, pilot testing facilities, and validation documentation, and it is clear that no matter your industry, GEA Filtration gives you the solutions to put you in the lead.

GEA Filtration will for the first time show their new the new Model M pharma pilot plant. It is a cGMP laboratory-scale test plant designed for feasibility testing of cross-flow membrane filtration applications in the microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), and nanofiltration (NF) ranges. The unit can be set up for evaluation of a variety of membrane formats including spiral-wound, ceramic, stainless steel and hollow fiber.

GEA Liquid Processing

GEA Liquid Processing supplies process technology through detailed engineering, from conceptual level to manufacturing and delivery of modular liquid plants and automation that can be integrated into a plant wide operation.

GEA Liquid Processing will show various CAD renderings of a new portable CIP unit which has been specially developed for cleaning of small and medium sized reactors and vessels that typically are used in development settings. GEA Liquid Processing will also demonstrate its ability to integrate large multi-tank CIP systems in compliance with the latest cGMP, GAMP, and ASME BPE rules and regulations.

Niro Soavi

The Niro Saovi scope of supply ranges from table-top laboratory homogenizers through to in-house designed and manufactured cGMP pilot-scale and production skid-mounted systems for cell lysing and particle size reduction applications. On display will be the popular cGMP Pharma NS1001L Table Top Homogenizer which has the ability to process small volumes of liquids and pumpable fluids, homogenizing samples at rates up to approx. 160 ml/min, at pressures that can reach 21,750 psi.

Niro Pharma Systems

We offer the single most comprehensive range of in-house designed and manufactured processing equipment to the pharmaceutical industry. This year our premier exhibit will be a brand new tablet coater - the SuperCell™. The SuperCell™ tablet coater accurately deposits identifiable quantities of coating matter on tablets, even if they are very hygroscopic or friable. Also for the first time we will exhibit the Collette MicroGral™ - a table-top R&D batch unit for high shear granulation and pelletization process development. Additionally, we will have the following exhibits on the stand:

  • the SD Micro Spray Dryer - a small cGMP R&D unit which can be delivered in a completely contained glovebox.
  • the MP-Micro Laboratory Fluid Bed Processor for dry mixing, liquid spray addition, granulation and agglomeration, coating and drying of the smallest product volumes (50-200g).
  • a small laboratory tumble blender for solid mixtures or mixing with additionally added solids
as well as various IBC's, containment valves and interfaces.

Leading Technologies. Individual Solutions.
