GEA Filtration Extends Pilot Plant Testing Capabilities |

GEA Filtration introduces an extension to its standard Model R membrane filtration pilot plant line. Model R filtration plant The new Model R-xp is engineered and built to NEC Class 1, Division I, Group C and D hazardous area construction standards. This construction allows for testing of membrane filtration applications that employ non-water based solvent systems having potentially explosive characteristics.
This is especially important for maintaining a safe testing or small-scale commercial production environment in specific food ingredient, biotechnology and fine chemical applications that employ cross-flow membrane filtration to concentrate, to fractionate or to purify liquid streams. As with the standard Model R unit, the Model R-xp pilot plant can perform pilot studies on the full range of membrane filtration technologies (MF, UF, NF and RO) under a wide range of operating conditions. The pilot plant's standard configuration allows for testing with either spiral-wound polymeric membranes or tubular inorganic membranes. The pilot plant can be operated in batch mode, semi-batch mode, or in continuous feed and bleed mode. The pilot plant design has a single stage recirculation loop. The Model R membrane filtration pilot plant is skid mounted on a locking wheel base and will be delivered with all the components required for quick installation and easy operation, including an operating manual with data sheet templates. The Model R-xp is available for lease for short-term test programs or for purchase for longer-term test programs or commercial application.
