New Type 'R' Microfiltration Pilot Plant from GEA Filtration Spans all Filtration Technologies

The new Model 'R' microfiltration pilot plant from GEA Filtration provides accurate test results, with reliable scale-up to full production, for applications throughout pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The plant can perform pilot studies on the full range of filtration technologies (Micro-filtration, Ultra filtration, Nano-filtration and Reverse Osmosis) and can use all types of membrane - polymer, ceramic, stainless steel and hollow fibre.

The Typre 'R' produces accurate results that are replicated during full production. To achieve this GEA has taken great care in the plant's design. All the plant's components and instruments have been carefully chosen to provide maximum safety and accuracy. The product feed uses frequency-controlled, positive displacement pumps to minimize product damage, limit the addition of heat and maintain correct operating pressures despite variable speed/flow rates. All sample points are of the rubber plug type allowing samples to be extracted using sterilized syringes.

PLC control makes it fully automatic requiring only a single operator for initial set up. The PLC then controls base line pressure, circulation flow, permeate and retentate, and operating temperatures. Mag flow measurement provides accuracy and helps secure the correct parameters for pilot testing. All data can be recorded automatically by the system.

Before delivery, GEA Filtration will configure the plant precisely to match the application. Detailed operating instructions are provided or, if preferred, GEA Filtration will perform the tests on customers' behalf.

The plant is supplied on a wheeled skid for easy positioning ready to plug into an electrical outlet. It is designed for continuous operation and automatic CIP (Cleaning in Place).

This pilot plant is one of a wide range of GEA Filtration pilot plants available at application centres in the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The Type 'R' -xp, for example tests compounds using non-water solvent systems with potentially explosive characteristics. Each pilot plant is individually designed for optimum performance in a wide range of membrane filtration applications.

The new Type 'R' Microfiltration Pilot Plant is available for lease for short-term test programs or for purchase for commercial application. It can be viewed at the GEA Filtration stand at ACHEMA Stand D15 - G22, Hall 4.0.
